a tribute to the friendship of
Klaus van de Locht
and Nico van Hoorn

Nico puts his daily harvest
on the corner of the table
tells us where he found
his item of today

an empty shell that held
paper to roll cigarettes
on the pavement just
outside the studio of Klaus
who faded into yesterday

who showed him how to look
at things that drift ashore

the labyrinth of Klaus
reflects a voice in loss
just beside the river
red tulips float in circles
